CHIMNEY SWEEPING AND LINING

Sweeping

Having your chimney swept regularly will help to prevent chimney fires and reduce the risk of dangerous fume emissions from blocked heating appliances, flues and chimneys, entering your room.

Chimserv provide a professional chimney sweeping service, leaving your room clean and removing all waste and debris from site.

A CLEAN FLUE IS A SAFE FLUE

Lining

For any fire or wood burner to work successfully, it must be connected to a sound chimney and correctly sized flue.

Since the mid 1960’s, a chimney liner has been required by the Building Regulations in England and Wales and chimneys built before this will probably have no lining.

If your property has an existing chimney, this can be lined with a flexible flue pipe system.

However, it is also worth noting that it is possible to install a wood burning stove even if your property does not have an existing chimney shaft. An external insulated flue system could be installed, subject to survey.

New installations must be approved by Building Regulations, but because Chimserv is a HETAS registered company, this will automatically be taken care of for you, thus saving you time and money.

In addition to new installations, your chimney could also need lining for the following reasons:-

• Toxic fumes or smoke leaking into the house.

• The appearance of falling debris and masonry due to the deterioration of bricks and mortar.

• Excessive deposits of soot and tar.

• Poor draw.

• The flue is much too large for the type of fire or appliance being used.

• Downdraught and smokey rooms.
